The Bio-Box system, patented by ibiPLAST Srl, is innovative in the collection of organic kitchen waste. It consists of a ventilated container and Mater-Bi® corn starch bags. Among its many advantages is the fact that the whole system ‘breathes’, allowing moisture to escape naturally from the waste. The ventilated lid and basket allows air to pass through when closed helping transpire air and moisture, reducing rotting and odours.
Compostable Bags
The Mater Bi® bags made by ibiPLAST of Olona, Italy are from the material CF03A whose certifications are attached. This provides for the highest standard product that is breathable and made of corn starch. At 18 micros it is both strong and flexible giving performances in all the necessary measures of tear resistance, strength and shelf life that can be expected from bags being used domestically. The shelf life of the ibiPLAST product is generally accepted to be greater than two years according to tests by Novamont (the producers of the starch polymer).
